About American International School of Vietnam (AISVN)

At American International School of Vietnam (AISVN), each student is prepared for leadership in our global community while maintaining a strong set of values based on their cultural heritage. The AISVN student body is 90% Vietnamese and we are very proud to provide a rigorous international IB education sustained by Vietnamese family values. We support our high standards with a variety of programs -- preeminently our English As An Additional Language Program -- and teaching strategies that ensure we identify and address the learning needs of each and every child because we know that every child can learn.

Established in 2006, AISVN has grown from serving children on four campuses in our first years to serving more than 1,200 students today, ranging from Early Years (3 year olds) to Grade 12. Our expansive campus provides the facilities and space to enable our continued growth and a beautiful learning environment.

Our commitment and experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is evident from the success of our students and graduates. AISVN graduates go on to study at top universities around the world, and our alumni gather regularly to network and exchange ideas.

I’ve been with this school for 8 years. I’ve seen a lot of changes (mostly bad) in term of staff qualities and expenses but I didn’t care. Majority of the teachers are amazing. I had a lot of good memories with them. The thing I hated the most was the staffs not giving my friend’s support, thus having them get kicked out of school and NEVER get to graduate. I remember reaching out to the front office and ask for support and them basically giving us a non answer. Asked our counselors and ESPECIALLY the social service lady to help only to no ends. I resent the school for not allowing one of your longest student who’s been there since 1st grade suffer. So if you are planning to study here to keep in mind that financial and mental health supports are very bad. Sorry AIS, you’ve failed your student.

I'am a former foreigner staff of this school and this school had really terrible Human Resource Management skills and treat employees horribly as well as parents terrible, which causes me and my family to quit and leaves this school forever and never return. To other foreigner staffs and those whose planning to have your child study here: do NOT work there and do not send your child here . They refuse to provide documents for your visas or resident card and work permit, which is required by law. You cannot work for a school unless they provide the documents required to get a work permit. The government and the school made me get a mental health just because I'am a foreigner check which cost a lot, all for nothing. They make you come to events and activities early in the morning and late at night, and then refuse to pay for it and the staff at events treat us foreigners horribly. They don't let us yawn because we're sleepy because they wake us up late at night and early in the morning to go to events, and didn't bother to give foreigner staff a company pension. This place is super sketchy, illegal shenanigans all over. Hope the department of labor cracks down on them. I also once have my children study at this school and they graduate in 2021. In the contract the school has with my family and the other parents, the loan is interest-free and 100% supportive to both parents and children, and the school will pay it within 90 days after the students move to another school or finish their 12th grade, but many parents including us haven't received zero-interest loans from them to let our children study for free. That why I leaves and quit the school with my children and never return to work as a staff again and decided at another university in Chicago instead

My son had graduate in 2023, but the school pay us nothing when our finish 12 grade as promise . In the contract the school has with my family and the other parents, the loan is interest-free and 100% supportive to both parents and children, and the school will pay it within 90 days after the students move to another school or finish their 12th grade, but many parents including us haven't received zero-interest loans from them to let our children study for free. They even failed to deliver things that we brought from the Eagle Shop. I brought some objects from Eagle Shop and they failed to deliver it to our house on dates. When we ask what happen, they outright negatively insult us and blames us for problems that wasn't our fault in the first place but the school's fault Not all of the teachers and substitutes are equally qualified and committed to their profession. Some of them lack the skills and the passion to deliver engaging and effective lessons. They tend to finish their classes on time and leave without caring much about the students' learning outcomes. They do not monitor the students' progress or provide them with constructive feedback. They also do not manage the classroom well and allow disruptive behaviors to go unchecked. My big question : How can a school with such a great infrastructure have such poor teaching quality? How can a school with such a challenging curriculum have such low student engagement? How can a school with such a diverse community have such little respect for each other? How can a school with such high tuition fees have such low standards for excellence?

Substandard quality of education and extremely low quality of teachers; most of them are abusive and prefer other students over some other students . Classes and courses were slow, unhelpful and barely teaches you the basics of what you need to know. And the food quality here is not great, sometimes having hair inside. The food was so bad that I and my classmates lose our lunch preemptively.

Unfair treatment in middle school / high school. I wore some piercings to school not visible somehow the assistant principal found out and forced me to take it off or there would be consequences. A lot of the students had revealing piercings but didn’t get any problems with the assistant principal. The uniforms are expensive very. It’s like 300 for a shirt and more. And a calculator is like 2m or higher I could literally go to a bookshop and get it for like 100.000-300.000. The lunches are alright but maybe switch them up every once in a while. And it’s really dirty in the bathrooms if my friend or someone would go in they would get scolded by how messy it is. Paper everywhere. Students are getting bullied and the teachers just tell them to tell the principal. If you guys seen the drama in ishcmc American academy I agree with the mothers actions

Salary delays are being normalized. The school can't expect teachers/staff to remain the same dedication to their students when they are not being paid! The discrimination is too obvious.

The only redeeming thing about this school is the handful of friends I made here, other than that most if not every aspect of this school falls short. Even the one thing they have going for them, the facility, is misused. Money is being spent on useless add-ons like ceiling TVs in the hallways instead of the teachers and staffs. Funny how for a school that’s trying so hard to be American, eagle mascot and all, the voice of the students is drowned out by unreasonable decisions from the higher ups. I’ve never googled “how to give negative star ratings on google” before, thanks for that AIS!

I had a great time here overall, the school is always supportive and the teachers are always nice and friendly for you to be the best you can be. The staffs are friendly, though kinda overpriced with everything, it is a great school.

Excellent school, outside and inside looks royal. Teachers are motivating the students while they are doing the teachers work as I walk and look through the school.

I am having an enjoyable time here, the scenery is great and the teachers are sometimes strict but at the end they are nice and motivative.
