About American Community School of Abu Dhabi (ACS)
American Community School of Abu Dhabi (ACS) is a non-profit, U.S. accredited college preparatory school serving a culturally diverse student body. Our American, standards-based curriculum provides excellence in the four pillars of academics, the arts, athletics, and service.
Service learning is a unique and emphasized pillar at ACS to the extent that as a graduation requirement all students must participate in a service learning project within the school, local community or internationally each year. ACS serves approximately 1,200 students between the ages of 4 to 18 to earn a high-school diploma. In grades 11 and 12 students can choose to enroll in the IB Diploma Programme (IB), Advanced Placement (AP) courses and challenging ACS coursework.
The language of instruction at the school is English while second languages of Arabic, French, and Spanish are offered in Middle and High School.

The teachers are outstanding! They care and connect with their students at all grade levels. The leaders are politicians and the curriculum definitely needs modernizing. Our elementary student is not getting good literacy (we supplement at home - I don't think they heard Sold a Story or use current reading research). They are not actually doing what they said they did when we were started almost two years ago (personalized learning is what they said they do but they use differentiation and some student choice and they are absolutely different). The service program is super although no longer required for our HS student, which I personally don’t like. The AP program is growing. We prefer IB and that has shrunk for next year. The behavior of students is typical but definitely better than others in the region. The sportsmanship of some school sports teams is unacceptable and that is 150% on leadership for not supporting the coaches in our experiences. We saw this with other situations last year too. Some kids went to jail and still did some activities. We don't know all the details but it made us uneasy. The new building is great although there is not much in Saadiyat yet. ACS is not as good of a school as the two other international schools we have attended (one regional, one in east Asia) but we think it is probably the best in the UAE especially the teachers.

I think 5 stars are good because my son Arman went there and loved the school he said it was welcoming and got better grades than from his old school.
Went to school here from 91 to 98. So I can’t say much for these days, but from what I know, you’re doing your kids right. #halloween when they first introduced the haunted house and it was far, far, too scary. Good times...
I have been going to this school since I was in 3rd grade, and so much has changed, in a good way, I was able to make friends, and learn things that were completely new to me, and in all it is a great school, and you should encourage your children to go to it.
My old school in SAUDI ARABIA, of all places, was more enjoyable than this garbage example of an education establishment. Some teachers are unfair, some teachers don't even know how to do their job properly. There are very few good teachers in this school. Because of that, my depression increased by x12.
But to be fair, this is the best school in Abu Dhabi, and its campus, while old, still holds up pretty nicely.
