About AIS Altea International School

Altea International School (AIS) is a British international school founded in 2012. AIS was created by a group of enthusiastic parents and teachers, who believed that learning should take place as experientially as possible, that individual attention is fundamental, and that close communication between the members of the educational community – students, teachers and parents – is essential.

AIS is a privately owned British international school with Steiner- Waldorf orientation, dedicated to offering a unique learning experience. AIS follows the British National Curriculum and Steiner-Waldorf principles, ensuring that equal emphasis is placed on solid academic foundation, artistic expression and socio-emotional development. We celebrate our students’ individuality and encourage them to find their true selves through all our activities. We do not judge the students by their academic results, but rather foster their creativity whilst striving to prepare them academically for their IGCSE and A-level exams which they will need at a later date. We give great importance to the arts as well as other traditional academic subjects.

Being part of the AIS school community has been a great experience for my sons. The school is located in a beautiful place, completely surrounded by nature and with incredible views. The school facilities are really good! My sons are happily learning in a very caring and nurturing atmosphere that respects their own learning styles and gives them the confidence to develop their strengths and work on their weak spots at the same time. They are Spanish speakers , but they were able to manage the basic English language they need to keep their class learning pace in less than a year. As a result of the English immersion they are exposed to, their command of the English language is continuously improving. The admission process was amazing. The whole administration staff, and specially the Headteacher, had been very kind and efficient during the whole process. Besides, there is a great, supportive community of teachers, families and friends around the school that makes you feel at home from the very first moment.

The surroundings are beautiful. However the curriculum is at least 2 years behind the British curriculum. My 12 year old daughter constantly commented how she already learned this back in London. A whole year in the school she hasn't learned anything new. Also my daughter used to go to Steiner school in London and I can safely say that AIS does not resemble Steiner influence in any way whatsoever. The school administration is a complete shambles!
