International School Bangkok (ISB) is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian PK-12 day school and Thailand's first international school. It opened in 1951 as the International Children's Center on the grounds of the US Embassy in Bangkok to serve American diplomatic and expatriate families, moved to Sukhumvit in 1960 and, since 1992, has occupied a purpose-built 37-acre campus in the gated community of Nichada Thani, Pak Kret (Nonthaburi), about 20 km north of central Bangkok. In 2018 it added an Environmental Wilderness Campus in Phetchaburi province for outdoor education. ISB is governed by a parent-elected Board of Trustees and serves students aged 3 to 18 from around 60 nationalities, with a school-wide student-teacher ratio of about 9:1. Its programme is built on a US standards-based curriculum accredited by WASC; in high school students can follow the ISB (American) diploma with Advanced Placement courses and the AP Capstone programme, the full IB Diploma (ISB was the first school in Thailand to offer it), Syracuse University SUPA courses or a hybrid pathway. The school is a member of IASAS and runs extensive support services, including EAL, learning support and a Life Centered Education programme for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

ISB covers Pre-Kindergarten (age 3) to Grade 12 on one campus. Early Childhood (Pre-K and Kindergarten) follows a Reggio Emilia-inspired, play-based approach. The Elementary School continues through Grade 5 in lower and upper elementary sections, the Middle School serves Grades 6-8 (ages 11-14) and the High School Grades 9-12, where students can combine the ISB diploma, AP, IB Diploma and SUPA courses.

English is the language of instruction and strong English proficiency is essential; an English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme supports learners who need it. World languages are part of the core curriculum in every division. During the school day ISB offers native-language classes in Thai in all divisions and in French, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish in middle and high school. After school, the Panther Native Language Academy runs classes in Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Thai for native and near-native speakers.

ISB combines a US standards-based curriculum with international pathways in high school. From Grade 10 students can build a personalised route that mixes Advanced Placement courses, the AP Capstone programme, the full IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11-12 (with TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS) and Syracuse University Project Advance courses that can earn US college credit. All pathways lead to the ISB high school diploma, and students in the Life Centered Education programme can earn an LCE Diploma. ISB was the first school in Thailand to offer the IB Diploma.

ISB fields over 100 interscholastic teams from U11 to Varsity, competing in the Bangkok BMAC league and, at varsity level, in IASAS. Sports include soccer, cross-country, volleyball, rugby and touch, basketball, tennis, swimming, badminton, baseball, softball, track and field, golf and gymnastics. The Panther Activities programme adds dance (ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap), instrumental and voice lessons, art workshops, skateboarding and ninja parkour, Taekwondo, Scouts and after-school native-language classes, while the Elementary Explore programme offers coding, robotics, cooking, science, chess and Zumba. Productions and clubs complete the offer.

A contracted bus company runs air-conditioned, adult-monitored buses across Bangkok, and many families living in Nichada Thani walk, cycle or use golf carts. Epicure Catering operates separate elementary and MS/HS cafeterias plus coffee corners. A health clinic staffed by registered nurses is open until 8 pm on school days and covers weekend sports. Counsellors work in every division, alongside university counsellors. Student Services include EAL, learning support and the Life Centered Education programme with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and school psychologists.

The Nichada Thani campus covers 37 acres. Sports facilities include five indoor gyms, grass pitches, a running track and cross-country course, an Olympic-size pool and a 25 m pool, a gymnastics gym with a rock climbing wall, a fitness centre, tennis courts, a golf centre and a baseball field. For learning and the arts there are elementary, middle and high school libraries plus the main Davies Library, theatres, a Cultural Center for world languages and performing arts, an Invention Center with makerspace and 3D printing, design, robotics and visual art labs, and a photography studio. Newer additions include the Sky Park and Parkour Park play areas and rooftop gardens.
