Information about the educational stages of the Dallington School
Early Years follows the EYFS framework, with three prime areas of learning (communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development) supporting four specific areas (literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design). Primary is divided into Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6), with the Spanish equivalences set out for each year. In Secondary, pupils move to subject specialists; in Key Stage 4 most take between seven and nine IGCSE subjects, and passing at least four is what allows the studies to be recognised within the Spanish system.

Our kids love Dallington and go to school happily every day and come home with smiles as well. Of course they're learning as well. We like the small scale, familiar feel of Dallington, as opposed to commercial, large scale of other British schools in Madrid. Most kids are Spanish, a few are international families. School works hard at being English speaking only, though sometimes the Spanish parents are the ones who need most help with the language :-) We also very much appreciate the secular eduction, the school is nonreligious but offers catechism...

We targeted our daughter this year on the rebound because we were going to a date with the Brains, but a Dallington sign crossed our path. That is why I give my opinion based on this first year that we have enjoyed at school.

OUR FIRST IMPRESSION
From the beginning, the school dazzled us visually: lots of green, large, bright areas, good access...
Immediately, MarÃa, one of the center's directors, assisted us. He told us how they worked, their philosophy, their growth until then and where they were aiming. It seemed like he was describing the ideal school where we would all have loved to grow up.
THE ORGANIZATION
From the small details inside the school, to the initial and follow-up meetings, to the distribution of breakfasts, the reception of the children when they leave and enter seems absolutely splendid. My daughter runs every day to say goodbye to her teacher who always waits for her at the exit door.
THE TEACHERS / LEVEL OF ENGLISH ACQUIRED
One of the main reasons why we chose this school, like many parents, was the possibility of your children growing up with a second language as a bilingual. I can say that we are more than satisfied with what our daughter has acquired this first year. When we bring friends from the United States and talk to him, he is able to understand and answer coherently.
The only "but" is perhaps that their prenursery course is not 100% with native teachers, which I would consider very important for the acquisition of the accent. On the other hand, they make up for this weakness with teachers of the highest quality, super attentive to both children and families.
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
It is another of the reasons why we chose this school, in addition to the obvious proximity and the language.
The food is simply wonderful, all organic and also very well distributed. Month by month you know the menu and they teach you different anecdotes that are on the menu. If I could, I would buy food to take home from school every day. Breakfast was more of the same, from the beginning they asked us what we gave at home and what we avoided, and that's how it was.
We are very happy in this regard.
PRICE
Let's see, logically it is an important family effort, especially if you add extras such as the dining room, breakfast, materials, etc. (the dining room and breakfast separately are quite good prices). You also have to make a significant outlay the first year for registration and uniforms (which could be included the first time at least for the registration).
I know they give a discount for siblings, I don't remember if it is for 1 or 2 siblings. I think the price they have is average to good for a British school.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
I think this course has been quite well covered in what activities for them are concerned: workshops, external, etc. Maybe I would add one more a year where the parents interact directly with the children to even create more of a sense of community.
GENERAL PERCEPTIONS
We are delighted with the school. The girl progresses quickly and is very happy every day, plus she adores her teachers, we know that she is well fed, without fritangas or things like that. Another point that we highly valued was the fact that the owners themselves are the directors of the center, and that is noticeable in every inch, it is noticeable in the enthusiasm of the project and in its strength. They are available and visible many days upon departure and it is appreciated.
We would recommend the school without hesitation, in fact, if we can afford it ourselves we will take our other child there without hesitation.
I hope this opinion can help you as a parent to get to know the school a little more from the point of view of a user.
