I joined ISCAT in 2007, right at the beginning of the school's journey, almost twenty years ago. Looking back on my entire time there—from Early Years through to A Levels—I can honestly say that I always felt supported, included and valued. Although I had some additional educational needs, I was never made to feel different or left behind. My classmates and I all had different abilities and learning paces, yet the school created an environment where everyone was treated equally and encouraged to thrive. That sense of belonging kept me motivated throughout my educational journey and allowed me to grow with confidence. One of the things I treasure most about ISCAT is the people. I had the privilege of meeting wonderful classmates and teachers whose kindness, humanity and genuine care made a lasting impression on me. Their warmth created a sense of familiarity and comfort, making each new stage of school life feel less daunting. Having people who truly accompany you through every challenge makes an enormous difference. The school's values are not only taught in the classroom but lived every day—during lessons, at lunchtime, in the playground and throughout the wider school community. The respect, empathy and care shown by both teachers and support staff foster an inclusive and welcoming environment where every student feels they belong. As each stage of my education brought new challenges, ISCAT always found a way to make learning engaging, enjoyable and inspiring. Rather than feeling overwhelmed, I felt encouraged to keep moving forward and to believe in my own potential. Above all, what meant the most to me was the emotional support. We all arrive at school carrying our own experiences and personal challenges, but at ISCAT there was always someone willing to listen, understand and help. It was a place where I felt safe to be myself, without fear of judgement or labels. Academically, I was not equally strong in every subject. However, from GCSEs onwards, ISCAT gave me the opportunity to focus on my strengths, develop the subjects I was most passionate about and build confidence in my abilities. That experience not only helped me succeed academically but also strengthened my sense of identity—helping me discover who I am, what I value and the direction I wanted to take in life.

We had the pleasure of visiting ISCAT with a group of colleagues to learn more about their inspiring Forest School and their innovative approach to collaborative, project-based learning across different age groups. We were truly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the commitment of the staff, and the school's clear focus on developing curious, confident, and independent learners. It was inspiring to see how learning extends beyond the classroom and how students are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning. A specia...
