Benjamin Franklin International School offers a differentiated American curriculum from Nursery to Grade 10 and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program in Grades 11 and 12. With near 700 students, BFIS is a truly international school in Barcelona with more than 50 different nationalities. Instruction at BFIS is entirely in English, with language courses offered in Spanish, Catalan and French. Benjamin Franklin International School is a private, non-for-profit school located in the beautiful Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood, with many public transportation options nearby. My child is finishing the IB program at BFIS this year. It's a demanding program, but the teachers and counselors have really been great and supportive throughout the process. Teachers are patient, knowledgeable, great with the kids. The students all seem decent, too. Not much drama, not many cliques. At least not compared to normal high school levels. My child found a great set of friends here.

It all comes down to the people. The teachers and support staff at BFIS really go the extra mile for the students here. My daughter had some difficulty making the adjustment when we moved to BCN. We mentioned this to some of her teachers. They really went out of their way to help her out. It meant a lot. My daughter's grades are great. She's much happier now, in general. It's nice knowing she in a good community at BFIS. Highly recommend.

Our child has been at BFIS for six years now, and we’ve seen the school improve greatly over that time. I think the school is greater than the sum of its parts. It doesn’t have an enormous, fancy campus to provide great eye candy when you take a tour. Its strengths are more subtle. The faculty members are very dedicated to the kids. They’re always available to help if kids need something extra. The classes are small enough that teachers get to know each student fairly well. It feels a bit like an extended family.
