At One World International School (OWIS), Saudi Arabia's first Apple Distinguished School, education is built on the belief that learning should help students understand the world and their place in it. The school follows a learner-centered approach where curiosity, inquiry, and thoughtful discussion shape everyday learning, supported by a technology-enabled environment that enhances engagement and collaboration.
In the early and primary years, students learn through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) integrated with the American curriculum, where classrooms encourage questioning, exploration, and connections across subjects. This inquiry-led approach helps students build strong academic foundations while developing confidence in how they think, research, and communicate ideas. During these years, the learning environment is co-educational, allowing students to collaborate and grow together.
From Grade 6 onwards, students follow the American curriculum, which deepens subject knowledge and encourages independent learning, collaboration, and analytical thinking. While learning continues to be collaborative, the school transitions to a gender-segregated structure from Grade 7, in line with local requirements, while maintaining the same quality of learning and opportunities for all students. Through projects, research, and real-world applications, students are prepared for higher academic pathways and future opportunities.
OWIS also places strong emphasis on a balanced learning experience. Academics are supported by sports, co-curricular activities, and collaborative learning experiences that help students develop confidence, teamwork, and leadership. The school's learning spaces and digital environment are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and engagement.
As part of the Global Schools Group, OWIS benefits from a global network of schools and international expertise, giving students exposure to a diverse learning community that spans many countries and cultures.

Early Years
In the early years, learning is built around curiosity and exploration. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), integrated with the American Common Core, encourages children to ask questions, engage in hands-on activities, and develop a natural love for learning. Students focus on building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and communication, while also developing social and emotional awareness. Learning happens through play, interaction, and guided inquiry, helping children grow with confidence and independence.
Primary School
In primary school, learning becomes more structured while continuing to be inquiry-led. The IB PYP framework supports students in connecting ideas across subjects and understanding concepts in depth.
Alongside core subjects, students develop bilingual language skills and take part in a range of experiences that support their overall growth. The focus is on building thinking skills, collaboration, and confidence, while preparing students to take ownership of their learning.
Middle School
Middle school marks the transition to a more rigorous academic structure under the American curriculum, including Common Core and NGSS. Learning focuses on strengthening subject knowledge while encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving. Students explore interdisciplinary learning, where they connect knowledge across subjects and apply it in meaningful ways. Opportunities such as leadership programmes and competitions further support confidence, responsibility, and participation.
High School
In high school, learning is designed to prepare students for university and future pathways. The curriculum follows the California Common Core Standards, with a strong focus on critical thinking, advanced writing, research, and reasoning. Students have access to a wide range of subjects and electives, along with personalised guidance through career counselling and college placement support. The approach ensures that students are well-prepared academically and confident in making informed decisions about their future.
