About Pelita International School
Welcome to Pelita International School. Based on the beautiful island of Penang, Malaysia, our objective as an educational institution is to develop and nurture a child’s natural curiosity - so that their learning doesn’t just begin and end on school grounds alone.
In fact, we strive for holistic education. That means developing the natural curiosity of our students - so that they’re intrinsically motivated to learn. Learning is more than just reading and memorizing. Practical, physical involvement in the lesson is emphasized as much as academic pen-and-paper studying.
It is an eclectic combination of kinaesthetic activities with practice drills and audio-visual stimulation with real-life scenarios. We believe there is a genius in each child, and it is our job to nurture and train young ones to reach their fullest potential.

Experience there was very fun as a student but when getting to year 10/11 is when it started to fall off, especially after the pandemic. The education being not as focused on is okay in years 7-9 but when it hir year 10, most of the teachers were still not teaching as much as they ought to. This resulted in most of my classmates studying the syllabus ourselves since the teachers taught too slow and we're not able to catch us up before IGCSEs. Facilities are meh, no library and their study room is just tables, chairs and a couple beanbags tossed in with some bookshelves. It is a fun experience if you're looking for a school for a child who's in primary but for secondary, I wouldn't exactly recommend. For staff, there are some bad ones and some good ones. The good ones make up for the bad though. For extracurriculars, they are very encouraging and have a diverse variety but teachers generally lack passion. One of my friends has complained to me about the poor quality of a certain academic extracurricular as she feels that the teacher has lost passion in running the club. Moreover, students aren't exactly empowered to make decisions by themselves, students don't make or run clubs and this causes students to lack leadership skills and miss out on things to put in their CV. If your kid isn't smart, you may want to be wary of this school.

After completing a year at Pelita, my kids still wake up every morning, happy and excited about school-and that amazes me. The teachers are nurturing, attentive, and insightful. They are genuinely invested in each child's success and do whatever they can to build on each kid's individual strengths. This is an incredibly inclusive school where everyone has the opportunity to participate in a wide array of activities and classes, from coding, to dance, to cooking and so much more. This school understands that education is so much more than pure academics. It's more than producing book-smart students; it's about nurturing each child to be the best versions of themselves.

A great school! Warm and dedicated teachers with great learning environment. Near to nature away from the pollution from traffic. Students get fantastic attention from teachers and differentiated learning. Teachers try to get the best out of every students. Teachers believe every child is a genius. The school believes that each and everyone of students has different amounts of the 9 multiple intelligences.

I like this school because of its location. It's away from the main road (away from pollution), closer to nature; surrounded by trees and plants. It also has a big football field, which is a plus point for my son. Teachers are warm and welcoming, and they try their best to bring out the genius in every child. One of the highlights of this school is its annual concert. Students from early years right up to senior years are involved. The seniors work on props and sets with the guidance of their teachers. They get an opportunity to show their talent. I'm happy to have enrolled my son in this school.

My eldest daughter has been attending school at Pelita since Year 1. She came from a Waldorf education kindy which believes in age appropriate learning and therefore could not read or write at all when she entered Year 1. The teachers were patient and very quickly she started reading and writing, and today, a year later, she is a bookworm! She also enjoys going to school and mixes well with her friends, as well as takes part in plays, sports, dancing as well as academic activities. I am more than pleased with the school and can't say enough good things about the teachers, staff and students. Thank you Pelita!
