About New International School of Japan (NewIS)

New International School of Japan was founded in 2001, as the first international school in Japan specifically established to meet the needs of permanent, international marriage, and/or long-term residents of Japan, regardless of nationality, in the clear and research-based recognition that dual language and multiage education are good for children!

In addition, the school offers a smooth transition for children moving from a Japanese based educational system to an English one, or vice versa, and families temporarily in Japan  but with an interest in Japanese as well as English are also welcome.

NewIS is accredited through grade 12 by both the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the Council of International Schools (CIS), and it is a member of the Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS), the Progressive Education Network (PEN) and the  Tokyo Association of International Preschools (TAIP).

The New IS school promotes human development, It has a very healthy environment with an extremely positive atmosphere. The evaluations that my son receives praise his qualities and this makes him always with good self-esteem and interest in the projects. I recommend the New IS, the best school I put my son in.

The curriculum is good, but the Japanese teacher's favor towards the students is remarkable. It's understandable to favor students who can, but ignore students who may not like it, even though it's not particularly unscrupulous. It may be smart, but it is not a person who should be a teacher. It came to light in the online class. Foreign teachers are relatively devoted, but some Japanese teachers have a bad personality. (Supplement / Of course, there are many wonderful Japanese teachers, and I can recommend it for the school as a whole.) The teacher who works here should take care of himself and the school should understand this fact and deal with it. I hope it will be improved.
