IST is firmly established as one of the premier international schools in China and as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorized to teach all three IB programs (Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma) we provide a comprehensive and coherent written curriculum based upon the highest academic standards. As a school we use the mission of the IB and the philosophy of IST to guide our deliberations and actions, and to ensure that our children develop the attitudes and dispositions of true internationalists prepared for the challenges and wonders of life beyond our school.

The International School of Tianjin (formerly TEDA International School, Tianjin) opened the doors of a converted downtown Tianjin villa to some 20 children in Grades 1 to 4 on 5 September 1994. In 2001 IST relocated to purpose built facilities on a 7.2-hectare campus in Weishan Lu in the city’s southeast. Student enrollment currently averages between 400 and 500 students.
