During this time the world has separated us. We are unable to be physically together in our school, to meet our school parents at the gate, to hold our pupils hand as they come into our classrooms, to laugh and sing together, to share and enjoy our wholesome lunches together, to say goodbye at the end of every day together. The Covid-19 virus has had devastating effects on us all. As a school, we have tried to manage the situation and its unexpected moments the best we can. If we have caused some people to feel disappointed with our current management decisions we apologise. I, as the Director apologise. However I sincerely believe that we have done the best we can for our school and for the schools children during this difficult time. We, IMSV are still who we were before the covid crisis, we are still the school which many parents loved and still do. We remain a small, welcoming school which treasures our pupils and which strives now, as always, to ensure we provide the kindest and freest environment for our school children to reach their full potential with respect and care. I am available to any parents who have questions about our school and would like to know more. Please contact me to know who we really are at : [email protected]

In the school there was a climate of love and respect, basically, thanks to the wonderful guides from both Children’s House and Primary, deeply loving and respectful teachers. One of the saddest things about it all is that those same teachers who have been the essence of the school, are not in the project anymore. As of today, three/four (there is no clear info) of the five teachers are missing, the children have been left without emotional/academic references, without contact with their teachers. The principal and her husband (who are the only visible people at the school today) have been sending materials that are not adapted to the children or their levels. The rigor in academic terms has always been conspicuous by its absence, and this crisis has made it very evident. Of course this school has nothing to do with what it was, this crisis has uncovered the reality behind the classrooms, a dire direction and organization. All families have already dropped out, if there is someone who is enrolling in this school for the next academic year, please ask how many families are not new. The answer will reveal that all the comments written here from the affected families are absolutely true. The management of this center has destroyed many families and has deeply affected 100% of its students. They announced the sale of the school in a disastrous way and time, leaving the families helpless and with no possibility of action. In the following weeks they changed their mind as they saw that people felt cheated and left the school. Seeing how difficult it would be to sell an empty school in rented premises, they finally decided to stay with the only objective of being able to sell the business when they can and leave the country. Throughout this process, the interest and concern for the situation of the families and children they claim to care for so much has been absolutely nil. What has happened in this school is a real shame, mainly for so many children who are suffering the consequences of the actions of these people.

We are deeply DISAPPOINTED and SAD. Our experience was very positive for many years regarding our children’s education. HOWEVER, the director has always been cold, aloof, authoritative and was never ready for shared discussions or dialogue with the families which, despite the nice environment in the classrooms, caused a very tense atmosphere among the parents and their relationship with the school. In fact, many families have been told to abandon the school in very impolite ways. Communication is always one way, there have always been changes in the school policy and management without prior agreement or advance communication (and all them included changes in staff or fees increases). As many other families think, we now agree that money is the only thing that matters to the director and her family. In all this time of crisis there has been no concern for the students, they have announced the sale of the school and three different changes of “future policies for September” in one month. Instability and uncertainty is the only thing left in this project. Almost all of the families have already left due to mismanagement, selfishness and lack of humanity.

We are current parent of the school, love the school, love the guides and management. The covid crisis is taking its toll on many situations and schools, including this one who are doing a great job.

The school is run by a British couple in a more than dictatorial way. They refer constantly to a "community" that is never listened to nor respected. Parents do not have a say in ANY field. Unless you (most importantly) PAY and do as you are told things will run smoothly, if you disagree or try to suggest changes of any kind (as part of the "community" that you are constantly said you are part of) then you will realise that your opinion doesn't matter. The guides have been extremely competent and respectful professionals , highly respected by both kids & parents and most of the time not treated with the respect they deserved by the running couple. Our kids education, we feel, has never been top priority for this couple, business was first, was second, was third: money, money, money. Lack of transparency on the numbers. When asked by the parents what is the 400 Euro material fee used for?, we were mainly told "not of our business". No admin staff, every single email, every single bank transfer (personal current account by the way, not business account) was micromanaged by the couple (mainly the woman). Never got a receipt of any kind as proof of payment. Mid March 2020 they sent an email saying they were "closing the school". In our opinion, they were just "taking advantage" of the current (Covid 19) chaos. No refunds made. Two weeks later another mail: "they will finish this school year (2019/2020)", almost two more weeks later, "they will continue running the school for as long as it needs to be". If you are looking for stability, seriousness, professionalism, transparency.. this is NOT the school you should send your kids to.

We had great expectations of this school. On paper it seemed like a beautiful project truly aligned to the Montessori principles, and the fact that it is a small school we were delighted that it would offer a close and personal education for our children. But from the enrolment and initial communication with the school director (and owner) we started to realise that there were serious deficiencies on the administrative side. It was clear that the main goal of the owners was to maximise profit and minimise effort and accountability. There was zero flexibility on serious matters that impacted the children, communication was only one way and management style was authoritarian. Fees were excessive, specially if you consider that school ran from 9am to 4pm Mon, Tue, and Thu - 9am to 12:00 on Wednesdays (yeah, don't ask me why...it just suited their family), and 9am to 2:30pm. If you compare the actual school time against the fee, the school is super expensive. In every decision it felt like they were just catering to their own needs (they have 4 of their own children attending) and convenience. The school director is obsessively controlling and would allow zero dialog with the parents. To give you a simple example, for the parent-teacher meetings she requested the parent's questions in advance of the meeting, which she responded in writing before the meeting and there was absolutely no dialog, decision had been made one sided. The worst came when the Covid-19 situation arise. Instead of showing empathy and support to families, they only cared that people payed their full fees even if there were no classes and a very poor online substitute. Once again, there was zero flexibility and decisions were dictated. They then decided one day that they were selling the school, left every family hanging and to their own devices and decided to keep every single cent of the money that should have been refunded. A few weeks later, they changed their minds and expected everyone to continue as if nothing had happened. This situation is what drove us away and we decided to pull our children out of the school. If you are concerned with a well run, well managed, stable school...this is not the one. This is just a family project that these people decided to open to outsiders, until it suits them and only under their own rules and terms. You will have absolutely no say and just as it happened to us, they can one day wake up on the wrong side of the bed and decide that they had it. Be ware!
