About European School Luxembourg

European School Luxembourg began in October 1953 in Luxembourg, on the initiative of officials of the European Coal and Steel Community, with the support of the Community’s institutions and the Luxembourg Government.

This experiment in education, side by side, of children of different mother tongues and nationalities quickly took shape as the six different governments and Ministries of Education co-operated in matters of curricula, appointment of teachers, inspection and recognition of levels attained.

Boden Akba. I am very happy to take part in the holy cult of Bodismus. Visits of the holy church of Boden are sadly forbidden as its on private property. But if you knock on the guards door they may let you in. Hail Boden.

Great school with lots of different language sections for people who don't speak Luxemburgish

I am very proud to be a student of ESL 1. They have very good lessons and if one person is bad at one lesson they're surely good at another. i have had a past with teachers who pick favourites and judge a person only by how good they do in their subject but in general teachers like to get to know their students and to judge them based on more than just their results. There are also many people to comfort you when feeling down, such as the school psychologist. Marking system is fair. I can honestly say I am 100% the number one fan of the European School of Luxembourg 1. Good five out of five!

I have been attending this school for 8+ years as of writing this. I have definitely learned my fair share of lessons in this school. I have some very fond memories of my years in the primary school (ages ~6-12). The secondary (ages ~12-18) however can be a bit inefficient in the learning system: 2x a year the students in S4, S5 and S6 get Compos - 8+ very long tests in ~2 weeks, this system seems a bit dated and unnecessary seeing as it is very stressfull and the two weeks leading up to this are mostly wasted. Some of the staff here can also be very annoying at times, luckily the worst of them are not here anymore. Some of the teachers are also borderline incompetent and should not be working at a school of this stature. Last point, the food. It is very expensive for the quality, luckily there has been some progression in the flavour but it is certainly not good food. Except for one, the food truck. My oh my was that a great step in the right direction. I really hope that I will see this return in the coming years. To conclude, this school has some great potential but it is held back by shoddy teachers and sad, expensive food (not talking about the food truck here). -Yes 2019: "Keep the food truck."
