About American International School of Guangzhou (AISG)
The American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) is an independent, non-profit, IB World School that provides an exemplary international education for foreign children from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. It is located in Guangzhou, China, with an Elementary School campus on ErSha Island, Yuexiu District and a Secondary School campus in Science Park, Huangpu District. Founded in 1981, AISG is the oldest and longest established non-profit international school in South China.
AISG is on the path to becoming an International Baccalaureate® Continuum School. It is a Candidate School for the Middle Years Programme(MYP), which is being added to the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) that were authorized in 2004. AISG follows the American Education Reaches Out (AERO), Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards help to guide the curriculum in all phases and allow for a program that is tailored to the specific context and learners at AISG. AISG is a member of EARCOS and ACAMIS.
AISG enrolls over 1,000 international students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 and our student body demographics reflect our international environment with over 40 nationalities. Our students are guided by faculty who challenge them to achieve, nurtured in an environment where creativity and inquiry are celebrated, and supported by a community who understands the power of a growth mindset.
AISG is a caring community that employs experienced teachers who are passionate and bring their forward-thinking pedagogy along with an empathetic approach to enrich each child’s learning. More than 78% of our 110 innovative faculty members have attained their master’s degrees and more than 68% have over 11 years of experience in education.
Our campuses are designed with the future of learning in mind. Both campuses embrace world-class class learning environments, including open learning spaces to promote collaborative and transparent learning with a green building design and flexible spaces that can evolve with the pedagogical changes that lie ahead.
AISG boasts an extensive athletic program, giving our student athletes the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports against other schools both internationally and within China. In addition, AISG offers diverse options for our after-school activities program, ranging from academic, sports, arts, music, technology, and social, allowing students to enjoy a current passion or find a new one.

How would you rate American International School of Guangzhou (AISG)?
As a non-profit school, governed by a board of directors (parents, school director, teacher rep.), all the money is put back into a learning and teaching for the students. This fact alone already raises it above privately owned schools in Guangzhou. The school provides more resources for students than other schools and the focus is on learning and teaching, not impressing parents with fancy graduations for 11-year-olds at expensive venues. Leadership, teachers , and parents collaborate and make the American International School of Guangzhou a top school in the world!

Love how the school atmosphere is so welcoming and open-minded. Provides lots of opportunities for both academic and non-academic experiences. Generally student-led and democratic (?)
