The Lycee Francais de Madrid is a French school in Madrid whose classes are all accredited by the French Ministry of Education and which takes pupils from the age of two through to the French Baccalaureat. The nursery school is organised in four levels, Toute Petite Section, Petite Section, Moyenne Section and Grande Section, and works through play, manipulation, experimentation and memorisation, with a weekly timetable of twenty-six hours of teaching. Elementary and college follow, and the lycee is divided into Seconde, Premiere and Terminale, moving pupils progressively towards the Baccalaureat. From Seconde, pupils can choose a general section, a European section in Spanish and English, or a Spanish international section; from Premiere they may also take the Baccalaureat Francais International in a trilingual or quadrilingual pathway. In Premiere and Terminale a common core of six subjects is combined with three specialities chosen from a broad list, and guidance work on higher education and the professional world is built into the timetable.
