A very nice growing school. It has experienced teachers and a strong IB based curriculum. Highly recommend it.

The school and the facilities are good and teachers are really very friendly, experienced and professional in their jobs. Actually, I can feel that they are not doing this like a job they do it with passion. I recommend this school to parents living in Tokyo.

My two kids attended there. One is for upper class and one is for Kindergarten class. The staff are very dedicated and professional. All teachers are native English teachers from US, Australia and UK, and they have assistant teachers one for each class. My kids really liked the school, and their English improved a lot. Apart from English language, my kids advanced academically and become critical thinkers and inquirers. The school has a family like atmosphere and we became good friends with many of the parents, attended each other's parties and celebrated the special occasions together. Before SIS, we checked many schools in Tokyo and around cities, but this school was the cleanest we had seen. Due to circumstances, we had to move to another country. My kids still miss Shinagawa International School.

We loved our experience at JIES (now Shinagawa International School). Our son had amazing teachers and really flourished under the IB curriculum with its inquiry-based learning framework, globally-minded approach, and its underlying values. He made wonderful friends, and the community of international families was extremely welcoming and friendly. We would make the same decision if we had to chose again. We highly recommend SIS to anyone looking for a caring environment where teachers have the flexibility to teach creatively to bring out the best in each child.

Impressed with very good level of English and diversity of the school. Small-sized but compact school.

After transferring back to America, I received a phone call from my children's teachers and administration asking to have a meeting with me and my wife. Come to find out, one of my kids, the oldest, was two grades behind then their state's standard, which means they scored two grades lower in all subject matter, and my other child was one year behind. Both of my kids were placed in extended classes to help them get in par with their grade levels. When I inquired this issue from my kids they told me that the teachers really didn't really help them out when they were confused. Also, most of the teachers were on their phones on Facebook when they were not teaching and not observing their students. If you are a parent considering this school, please stay away, find another school. You'll be surprised that students will be told that they will have special visitors and to act appropriately when there prospective students that might enroll. Teachers will act accordingly to the situation because they were told. Parents who have students here, please find out what your kids are doing, you'll be surprised what you'll find out. If you do decide to enroll your child at this school, or any other international school, do a surprise visit. DO NOT LET THE STAFF PREP THEIR STUDENTS TO ACT A CERTAIN WAY.
